A small but growing number of clinics for mothers-to-be are cropping up around the country in response to a prescription-drug epidemic, which has triggered a rise of addicted mothers giving birth to drug-dependent babies. A drug first developed for cancer has shown promise as a treatment for progeria, a rare and fatal rapid-aging disease in children, and may have implications in treating cardiovascular problems associated with normal aging. Devin Scullion, age 16, was a participant in the trial.
